GSI offers three types of comprehensive
grading reports below. The differences are mainly in size.
Each grading report comes with supplemental educational materials
that help the consumer understand the report and their purchase.
All GSI Reports come with the following supplemental information:
Please note that all GSI Reports
can be customized.
- The FDX, or "Full Diamond
Examination," is an 8.5" x 11" document that comes with
a clear plastic sleeve or can be folded to fit into a No.
10 envelope. The FDX is GSI's most comprehensive service
for identifying and grading an individual gemstone or a
piece of jewelry, including materials and side stones. It
is the only GSI report that includes a Plotting Diagram.
Integral to the report, on the back cover, is a section
called "Understanding Your FDX Report." This feature offers
an explanation for all the terms you will find on your report,
such as "measurements," "clarity," and "shape/cut."

- The IDX, or "Intermediate
Diamond Examination," is a 5" x 7" report that comes
in a clear plastic sleeve (5" x 3.5"). The IDX offers the
identical information as the FDX without the plotting diagram.
A separate "IDX Report Guide" provides an explanation to
the terms. It tucks neatly into the protective sleeve, along
with a small version of "How to Take Care of Your Gems and
Jewelry."

- The MDX, or "Modified
Diamond Examination," is a handy credit-card-sized plastic
document that measures 2.125" x 3.375". It offers basic
4Cs information and, depending on the item, will sometimes
include measurements. A mini version of all the supplemental
materials is offered with the MDX Report in an attractive
vinyl case.
